Throughout the classical world, there is, literally, something for everyone. From soloists to symphony orchestras, operas to comedies, ensembles to ballets, there is a library full of books by now devoted to the arts and its performers. There are even the documentaries and reference aids for all those who don’t follow them. For lovers of music particularly, there are encyclopedias, magazines, compilations, and roving tours of concerts.
More recently, though, popular culture has become a breeding ground for musical hobbies — from the now ubiquitous podcast as a way to join in, as well as a great option for listeners who may not have access to an auditory resource otherwise.
And so it is that Baltimore’s own Robin de Jesús Showcase has taken his meandering journey into that crossroads of music and performance known as the podcast. His latest offering: “Tick, Tick… Boom!” Tic-tac-toe: If you find a “L.”, the podcast is an outstanding conversation between Robin de Jesús and musician Krista Nanner, where they explore their shared passion for jazz, share stories from their respective professional experiences, and play a wide range of music.
The podcast will be the thematic home for “Tick, Tick … Boom!” and, in that way, represents much of Robin de Jesús’ eclectic voice. The brand-new show has, as its first episode, won best commentary on myDisruptive Tech podcast by a big margin.
“Tick, Tick … Boom!” is available for free via the app store or here: http://whotickets.com/ecoy-comcast-internet/
