Austria has announced mandatory vaccination after reports of the country becoming overwhelmed with polio. The government closed eight schools as local authorities overwhelmed by rare polio fears on Friday instituted a shutdown which also included mandatory inoculations. There was no evidence of any wild polio in Austria and it is currently the only country with the means to eradicate the highly infectious disease, but officials believe the concern was related to a rare strain of the disease found in Poland, Croatia and Moldova that is very similar to the human polio virus.
Author and author Kathy Sierra spoke with Kilmeade & Friends about the outbreak of polio and what might help control the disease.
Before Kathy shared her thoughts on China’s policies regarding human rights, Kilmeade mentioned she always wanted to write a book about people sacrificing their lives for their country, and asked what would her response be to U.S. service members today with their absolute commitment to serve. Sierra responded with this:
“It’s very crazy and fascinating to see the same amount of people coming in on one side or the other…knowing what to do, knowing what not to do and being very adaptive.”
