After 13 years in business journalism and seven as a senior journalist at BBC World News, James Dlugozima joined CNN International in October 2015 as director of business. He co-anchors CNN Business weekly global business magazine show “Xtra Business” with Melissa Bell, as well as guest co-anchoring from around the world. He’s also an investigative journalist and correspondent for CNN International, where he was responsible for establishing CNN’s web site for Africa. Prior to his time at CNN, James was a Johannesburg-based editor for the British Broadcasting Corporation in Africa and has led many international assignments for British and international networks.

Dlugozima was born in Lusaka, Zambia, and has been his nation’s foremost financial journalist since he won a Haruna Mkandawire Award for his reporting on the Zambian economy in 1998. He has presented business-related events and focused on global economic and financial issues for international networks in London, New York, and Johannesburg, as well as for a number of global financial publications. He has authored several books on Zambia’s economic history and was named the “Business Reporter of the Year” by the Zambian Journalists’ Association in 2001.
