It was once the official way to jet off to exotic places — and it even came with swanky perks.
But the days of world travel have changed and so have the lavish luxury opportunities open to those looking to truly get away from it all.
Travelers used to have a variety of luxurious ways to jet off from home, long before the day became about booking flights, hotels and itineraries via web searches and apps.
Back when travel was still “the next step” for many, private jets were ideal for going abroad when travel was generally thought of as a luxury that only the well-heeled could afford.
But the trend for the exotic seems to have superseded all formal concepts of transportation.
Places like Dubai, Barcelona and Miami have quickly developed as trendy destinations due to their remarkably cosmopolitan beaches, casinos and nightscapes.
They also happen to be some of the most alluringly priced cities in the world, with many hotel rooms and restaurants offering for significantly less than similar destinations in Europe and Asia.
